News Report – 1st February 2016 – Empire Grows in Homelands and Borealia

Adam I, Editor

ADAMSVILLE, Primoria – Adammia has recently seen a spurt of growth which has seen its population rise from 29 to 36 and its surface area reach 80,000 square metres. Firstly, General Sir Will McCracken completed a census of Borealia and submitted the results to the Ministry of Citizenship on the 21st. When Borealia first became part of Adammia it had three residents registered as Adammic citizens, but the true number of residents was much higher, as Borealia claims a number of households on a British street. Two of these houses now have all of their residents registered as Adammic citizens, bringing the population of Borealia to 8. The next day, Borealia then expanded its surface area, expanding its jurisdiction east over Avranches Valley, made viable by declining chav activity in the area.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Citizenship received an influx of new honourary citizenship applications. In an echo of early 2014 when many members of the Emperor’s year group at school found out about the Empire and subsequently signed up, a number of members of Crown Prince Daniel’s year group have done just that. Two of them, Cavan Garfield and Euan Carey, have offered their houses to the Empire as territory. Although their houses are close enough to Imperial City to qualify as Provinces, it was decided to make them Territories instead as it would be hard to integrate their representatives into the Ruling Council, which is currently entirely made of relatives of the Emperor.

The first territory, led by HG Cavan Garfield as Grand Duke, is known as El Grandens and was claimed on the 23rd. The second, Kappania, is led by Euan Carey as Lord and was claimed on the 30th. Both men are members of the re-established 2nd Infantry Regiment, along with a third soldier, Joe Waters. In 2014, the 2nd Infantry Regiment was created as an auxiliary section of General Sir Guy Crossland’s 1st Infantry Division, to support an influx of new recruits at the time of the Astley Meadow Insurgency, and was led by Colonel Alex Hollis before being disbanded in November 2014. The regiment is now back, with Garfield as its new Colonel. This has brought the total size of the Military of Adammia to 13, just 3 shy of its peak in 2014. The expansion of Borealia and the additions of El Grandens and Kappania has brought the Empire’s surface area from 70,000 square metres to 80,000, whilst the total number of citizens (including honouraries) has now surpassed 90. With the Emperor’s Birthday Honours List this month expected to include a number of new friends of the Emperor who will then be invited to apply for honourary citizenship, the figure could easily reach the huge milestone of 100 by the end of February.

In other news, the Colonial Council has passed its first piece of legislation since last summer. Lord Sir Grant Hawkins’ Diplomacy and Terrorism Act will be presented to the Ruling Council at its February meeting; it can be read here.

That is all for this week. Seek wisdom and honour, and long live the Empire!
