News Report – 5th April 2016 – Foundation Day Celebrations Cancelled

Adam I, Editor

ADAMSVILLE, Primoria – The House of Hall is in shock after the Emperor’s grandmother and Minister of the Environment, Her Grace Madam Winifred Hall, was admitted to a British hospital in late March and was shortly afterwards diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. At the request of the Minister of Finance and the Prime Minister, the Emperor has been forced to cancel the third annual Foundation Day celebrations planned for Madam Winifred’s residence of White Gold Palace in Tytannia.

Needless to say, the Empire of Adammia is the last thing on the minds of the Emperor’s family at this time. The weekly gatherings of the House of Hall in Tytannia – a tradition which long predates the Empire – have effectively ceased, causing government functions based in the capital to grind to a halt. The economy is expected to enter a huge recession, as the Contributions Scheme is effectively dead in the water and Capital Brewery Ltd. has not submitted its report for the first quarter of 2016. It is also unclear when the Ruling Council will next be able to meet, and it is possible that its April meeting may be forced to take place in Maternia instead of Imperial City, with a rump council of 5 members, the most that can be reasonably gathered at this time.

At this stage things are extremely uncertain for the Empire in its current form. The Imperial Family is expected to know within the next few days how long Madam Winifred will be expected to survive. It is currently unclear how soon, if ever, weekly meetings of the House of Hall in Tytannia will resume. If this does not happen in the near future, the Emperor will likely begin taking steps to shut down the capital city, probably relocating the Ruling Council to Maternia and the Treasury to Adamsville. In the meantime, the Emperor is using his positions at the top of almost every government agency to keep the government ticking over. If the Ruling Council relocates, it would then be possible that Myway and other provinces could lose their status. Further complicating matters is the fact that Emperor Adam leaves for university in the autumn. It already seems plausible that this could be the end of an era for the Empire of Adammia.

Many Adammic citizens living beyond the provinces have been quick to offer their support to the Emperor and his family.

That is all for this week. Seek wisdom and honour, and long live the Empire.
